The Chinese women’s volleyball superstar Zhu Ting won’t be able to help her teammates in the national team in the 2022 international season.
There’s a high probability, if not the certain one, that Zhu Ting will miss out on all competitions in which the China National Team will participate this year. This way, many fears of the Chinese fans turned out to be true. According to Sohu, the MVP of the 2016 Rio Olympics should go to the United States for wrist surgery in March, and the recovery period may last for more than half a year. This means that Zhu will definitely miss the FIVB Volleyball Nations League, Asian Games, and, most importantly, the FIVB World Championship. Even if she recovers for the World Champs, she would be convalescent and not able to play as a starter.
Zhu’s wrist injury first occurred in the FIVB World League in 2017. When she joined Turkey’s VakıfBank in 2018, she injured her wrist again. The following year, when Zhu joined Tianjin, her wrist hurt so much that she missed a lot of games. She set off a conservative treatment of the wrist before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but already in the group stage, due to pain, Zhu was unable to hit the ball hard.
