More than 3,000 fans in „Olympic hall“ in Gonbad saw, by far, the best team in Iranian championship until now, who had great desire to finish regular phase with a win and played the match with full intensity.

Sarmayeh scheduled quarter-final clash in the playoffs against eighth-seeded Ardakan Arman, who created several major upsets so far in the league like when they beat Urmia.

Derby of Week 22 and entire championship was held in packed „Ghadir“ hall in Urmia (more than 7,000 spectators) where Shahrdari Urmia VC defeated title holders Paykan Tehran 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 25-15) in two hours and six minutes of a game.

Unfortunatelly for Urmia, this win won’t mean much to them in regard to changing spot in the table, but it will be good for their self-confidance before playoffs. Milad Ebadipour from Urmia with 18 points and Amir Ghafour from Paykan with 15 points were the best scorers of the game.

Interestingly, more than two thousand fans were standing behind the closed gates in cold weather hoping to enter the hall!

By losing 3-0 (29-27, 25-15, 26-24) to Matin Varamin, Aluminium Al-Mahdi Hormozgan said goodbye to Iran’s Super League and will play in Division 2 next season. Aluminium was not lucky this season, because their relegation was speeded up by disqualification of Shahrdari Zahedan VC.
