The Czech ladies are going to play their first home match in the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League against Rabita BAKU which is probably the richest club in the world and definitely one of the teams that are aiming for gold in Europe’s most elitist club competition. This super match is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24, at 6.00 p.m. at DDM Sports Centre in Prostejov.

“Actually we cannot offer more to the fans who want to see wonderful women’s Volleyball with their own eyes. Rabita ended up with silver in last year’s Champions League, and this spring they lost to Fenerbahce ISTANBUL in the quarter-finals. Finally it was Fenerbahce that became the overall winner. And this time their motivation to win the title, which they have been dreaming about for a long time, is really big. Watching a Volleyball game played by this team is a great experience. Their quality is really high, so we just have to try to resist with great enthusiasm and fighting spirit” says Petr Chytil, the chairman of the management board, inviting the local fans to cheer on the heroines of Agel PROSTEJOV.

However, the strongest one out of many Azerbaijani teams residing in the capital city of Baku might arrive tired in the Czech Republic because their schedule has been very tough recently and they have been travelling a lot. Before going to Prostejov they played the 2012 Women’s FIVB Club World Championship in Doha, Qatar where they finished second out of the six participating teams. In the gold medal match they lost to Sollys OSASCO from Brazil. It was a crushing defeat for Rabita BAKU (0:3, 16-25, 14-25, and 17-25).

“But this information is not really important for our match. Sollys has an immensely strong roster and, undoubtedly, it is the best club in the world at the moment. But Rabita’s roster is also very strong this season even though there have been many changes since last year. Taking a closer look we can see there are exclusively internationals and some of them are world-class players. We would like to make a sensation, but, regardless of the final result, a close match would be already a success for us. I do not want to say in advance what exactly would make me happy because it depends on the progress of the match” singles out head coach Miroslav Cada.

Agel PROSTEJOV and Rabita BAKU crossed their ways in the Playoffs of the 2011 CEV Volleyball Champions League. At that time the stars from Rabita BAKU suffered a sensational 2:3 defeat to the Czechs in the first game but then they got back on track and won the second game as well as the deciding golden set. There are four players included in the current roster of the Czech national champion who remember these matches including Solange Soares. “Of course, it would be great to beat Rabita again, but we have to keep our feet firmly on the ground. Our play is still not perfect and there is no success without perfect performance. It is not enough to do our best; we must do twice as much and, literally speaking, fight hard for every single point. The important thing is to have a good conscience at the end of the game to know we did our maximum. I hope the audience will help” she says.
