The reigning Polish men’s club volleyball champions Jastrzębski Węgiel have contracted Árpád Baróti.
Jastrzębski, the reigning PlusLiga champions informed of signing a contract with Hungarian international Baróti which will be valid until the end of the current season. This situation is closely related to Stéphen Boyer’s injury. At the end of November, the French opposite hitter suffered a fracture of the metacarpal bones and at first, it was thought that he will be absent for two months tops. However, at the beginning of December, he underwent surgery in his home country and, after returning to Poland, he began rehabilitation, which will separate him from the court for several months.
Due to this, Jastrzębski decided to contract a player to cover Boyer’s position and be an alternative to Czech Jan Hadrava. Baróti will thus return to play in PlusLiga after a year (Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle in 2019/20). The 30-year-old Hungarian started the season on a short-term deal with Japan’s Suntory Sunbirds. He was replacing the injured Dmitriy Muserskiy. The Russian has recovered in the meantime and is expected to return to the court in January.
