Volleyball has experienced many changes of rules over the time. One of them is the number of contacts.

As Australian coach Mark Lebedew reminded us in his Blog, block touch was counted as the first touch until 1976. It means that the next touch after the block had to be a set up. Of course, as we all know, now block does not count as a first touch. Still, there are some players who sometimes like to play by the old rules and spike on a second hit, like Earvin Ngapeth. He has mastered this.

Still, before 1976 the whole team had to play like the French star. Check out how the Polish Men’s National Team did it in the Montreal Olympic Games, just that year, which they won…
