Even though they were behind the rival after two sets, Zawiercie didn’t want to surrender.

They started playing patiently as of the third set and believe it or not, they managed to make a huge comeback against AZS Olsztyn and to win the game.

The middle blocker of the Polish team David Smith has admitted that they are going to be underdogs in many matches in Plusliga.

It’s a good feeling to win the first game for this team ever in Plusliga. It’s a big deal for the club and our team. We played against very strong rival and we were trailing 2-0. The highlight of the game is the fact that we stayed calm even after being down by two sets. We continued working on our progress in the game. Even if we didn’t win, we fought hard, but after the victory, I’m very happy. We proved that we are the fighters, talented team with the power to beat the best teams. I don’t think we can do it every time, but there is potential, enthusiasm and energy,” says David Smith.

The next rival of the team will be Cuprum Lubin.

We are aware that we won’t be favorites for the most of the season because it’s our first year in Plusliga. That doesn’t mean we can’t fight and win a game. Of course, our opponents have more recognizable names. We just have to work on it and I think we have enough quality to win this game,” adds Smith.
