By beating PGE Skra Bełchatów in the final of the Polish men’s volleyball cup (Puchar Polski), Trefl showed they will be tough rivals to the clubs who were proclaimed title favorites in PlusLiga. As a matter a fact, they already beat two of those in the Final Four in Wrocław.
“First of all, I want to thank my team for this. They did a very good job. I am grateful to them for that. We remembered what was happening several days ago in Warsaw. It was not a good match for us, but this tournament was. It’s important that we showed the team spirit, for which I especially thank the whole team. To defeat such strong teams as Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle or PGE Skra Bełchatów, we had to give something more, something that is deep in our hearts, which we did as a team in Wrocław. I am happy, but there is still a lot ahead of us,” Trefl head coach Andrea Anastasi said after the gold medal match.
