Firstly, Perugia conquered the Italian men’s volleyball Supercup and then, last night – the national cup (Del Monte Coppa Italia) over Serie A1 titleholders Cucine Lube Civitanova.
“I congratulate Civitanova who played very well. After the first set we grew up and we managed to do a great job with the strength of the group that came out on the court. We’re giving everything in the gym and the trophies are the result of the many sacrifices we make every day. In the end, I ran into the stands to the fans because their cheering was fantastic. The Italian Cup is for them!” the MVP of the Final Four in Bari, Aleksandar Atanasijević, stated.
“Too bad, because we believed in the win to the end but we did not succeed. In the second set, we wasted several counterattacks. Then the referee gave us the red card when we were absolutely calm and just when I was about to make a serve. However, Perugia played better and deserved the victory. We will fight with them until the end. At the moment, they are the team to beat because they have conquered Supercup and Italian Cup,” Lube outside hitter Osmany Juantorena said.
