On the season in which they will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the club, Łuczniczka Bydgoszcz returned to their roots. They changed its name to Chemik Bydgoszcz which was the name of the club when it was established in 1949.

According to some media in Poland, there was a possibility that some other club would buy the right for competing in Plus Liga from Chemik but the club leadership decided to keep its berth in the Polish top flight for the next season.

Interestingly, now there will a club under the name Chemik in both male and female top division in Poland as the women’s side Chemik Police will try to win its sixth national title in a row in 2018/19.
