Round 8 of the 2024/25 Superliga concluded yesterday with Yenisey Krasnoyarsk defeating Gazprom-Yugra Surgut 3-1 at home. Earlier in the weekend, NOVA Novokuybyshevsk claimed a hard-fought 3-0 win over ASK Nizhny Novgorod.
Zenit Kazan took the top spot in the standings with a 3-1 victory against Dynamo Moscow, now second alongside Lokomotiv Novosibirsk. Lokomotiv edged Dynamo LO 3-2, while Dynamo Ural secured a 3-0 win over Fakel Novyi Urengoy. Away wins were also earned by Belogorie Belgorod and Kuzbass Kemerovo.
The 9th round of the Russian Men’s Volleyball Championship begins tomorrow with an exciting match in St. Petersburg, where the home team, Zenit St. Petersburg, will face off against Zenit Kazan.
In the regular season, teams will play in a double round-robin format, with one match against each opponent at home and away. The top four teams will advance directly to the quarterfinals, while the next eight teams will compete in an additional playoff round.
