Serbia’s women’s volleyball team, the reigning double world champions, has advanced to the Round of 16 at the 20th World Championship 2025 in Bangkok. But the spotlight has shifted to captain Tijana Bošković, who suffered a right ankle injury that worried fans and teammates alike.
Following detailed medical tests, team doctor Dr. Dejan Aleksandrić confirmed that Bošković sustained a ligament sprain, ruling out any fractures. She has already begun rehabilitation and physical therapy.
“It’s hard to predict the exact recovery time, but we’ll do our best to prepare her for the quarterfinal match,” said Dr. Aleksandrić, cautioning that her return remains uncertain.
Serbia will face Japan in the final group match on August 27 before entering the knockout stage, where they are set to meet either Thailand or the Netherlands in the Round of 16. The highly anticipated quarterfinals are scheduled for September 3 and 4.
For now, all eyes are on Bošković’s recovery, as Serbia looks to defend its world title with its leader back on court.
