TUR W: VakıfBank down Galatasaray thanks to Haak – Gabi duo, Bošković leads Eczacıbaşı to 10/10

VakıfBank prevailed over Galatasaray HDI Sigorta in the big match of the 10th round of the 2019/20 Turkish Women’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

VakıfBank recorded valuable victory in Round 20 of the 2019/20 Vestel Venus Sultanlar Ligi regular season. The titleholders beat Galatasaray in a derby by a 3-1 (24-26, 25-21, 25-23, 25-19) and ran away from them in the charts. Prior to this match, VakıfBank were second-placed and had only one point more than Galatasaray (No.3), while now they are ahead of them by four points (27-23). The duo Isabelle Haak – Gabriela Guimarães “Gabi“ led VakıfBank to a victory after which they reached 9-1 record. The Swede put down 21 points, while the Brazilian scored 19 points and had a 78% attack (18/23). Gabi also made 71% reception (14 digs, 71% excellent). As for Galatasaray, Ukrainian Olesia Rykhliuk scored 15 points.

Serbian opposite hitter Tijana Bošković chipped in with 25 points for Eczacıbaşı VitrA, who achieved a hard-fought win over AtlasGlobal Yeşilyurt: 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-16, 25-18). The Dutchwoman Nicole Koolhaas and Derya Cebecioğlu scored 11 points apiece for the losing side. Eczacıbaşı are unstoppable so far – 10 successes in as many games!
