In one of the biggest European female volleyball classics, which came a few days after both teams returned from China where they competed in the FIVB Club World Championship, VakıfBank beat Eczacıbaşı VitrA by a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-17). The match was valid for the last round (Round 11) of the first half of the 2019/20 Vestel Venus Sultanlar Ligi regular season.
VakıfBank inflicted the first defeat in the league to the vice-champions of the world Eczacıbaşı, ended rivals 10-game unbeaten run and extended their own winning streak to six games. Both sides will enter the second half of the season with 10-1 records but with VakıfBank being at the top of the charts, having one point more than Eczacıbaşı (30-29).
As for the match itself, the Swede Isabelle Haak top-scored for the winning team with 18 points which was as many as Serbian Tijana Bošković tallied in the rival team.
