Ziraat Bankkart are redeeming for the unsatisfying start of the 2020/21 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi regular season. In Round 17, they prevailed over Halkbank in a true classic of the Turkish men’s volleyball: 3-1 (28-30, 25-22, 25-20, 25-20).
The Dutchman Wouter Ter Maat was the most prolific player in the sixth successive win of the Ankara side with 24 points. Cuban Fernando Hernández tallied 21 points for Halkbank, who suffered a third defeat in the last four matches. Faik Samet Güneş added 4 blocks, while Volkan Done had 74 % reception (53 % perfect).
Arkas Spor moved from the fifth to the second place in the charts after they downed Afyon Bld. Yüntaş. Led in scoring by Yiğit Gülmezoğlu (16 points) and in reception by Brazilian João Paulo Bravo (83 %; 17 % perfect), the İzmir team swept rivals by a 3-0.
