After losing three matches in a row this past week in Hungary, Turkey got back on track on the first day of leg 3 in the prelims of the 2013 CEV Volleyball European League – Women. Turkey cruised past the leaders of Pool A, Bulgaria, with the score of 3:2.

Turkey – Bulgaria

Bulgaria had actually set the pace of the game for two sets before Turkey fought their way back in the next three, showing great play especially in the tie-break. This come-from-behind win represents a very good result for Turkey after they had struggled to find some quality and consistency throughout the past weekend in Kecskemét.

In the other match of the day the hosts of Romania edged Hungary in three straight sets (21-14, 21-16, and 21-9). It was an easy task for the hosts who needed a win to keep alive their chances to progress to the final four scheduled for mid-July in Varna, Bulgaria. The players around head coach Marian Constantin played superbly right from the start to seize the first set 21-14. Things did not change in the second set where they went up 7:5 and 14:12 and they easily wrapped it up at 21-16 paced by their wing-spiker Ioana Nemtanu. The game followed a similar plot in the third set with Romania moving up 7:4 and 14:8 as middle-blockers Nneka Onyejekwe and Alina Ilie were doing a great job at the net. Hungary could not stop that storm and Romania finished it off at 21-9.
