The Turkish women’s volleyball club Fenerbahçe Opet did not allow the Russian federation (VFV) to stand in its way of engaging Arina Fedorovtseva.
“Hi Fenerbahçe, here I am,” said Fedorovtseva in front of the club headquarters in Istanbul in a video posted by the Turkish side on social media. Thus, the Russian rising star dispelled all doubts regarding her joining Fenerbahçe, which was announced as official four months ago.
The Russian federation (VFV), unofficially, tried to stop the transfer of the 17-year-old outside hitter based on its internal regulations which say that international transfers cannot be granted before the players’ age of 18. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), however, is not bound to follow local regulations and may still approve the transfer, which obviously happened here.
