Squad of Radostin Stoychev has beaten Fenerbahce Grundig in the fourth match and finished the final series with 3-1 in victories.
From the very beginning it was clear that away squad came to Istanbul with only one goal – to finish the job. And their first step was indeed a powerful one 11-25!
Fener tried to recover, managed to significantly raise the level of game, but… At the result of 27-28, referee canceled a point of home team, and gave it to HalkBank, because of the rule violation!
It is unclear if referee saw fault of a setter (carrying a ball) or attacker (stepping on a 3m line), but the point and the second set went to HalkBank’s side.
It was very hard for Fener to come back from that. Istanbul powerhouse needed to win three consecutive sets… Won one of them, but lost the following one, and the title all together.
So, the HalkBank has won both domestic Cup and Turkish Championship in this season.
The best players in the winning team were Mitar Djurić with 26 points and Osmany Juantorena with 22. On the other side, Felipe Fonteles scored 20, Leonel Marshall 15.
