GREAT DERBY: Vakifbank down Fenerbahce!

The big derby of the Turkish championship went well for Vakifbank as they managed to beat Fenerbahce in five sets 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 25-22, 16-25, 15-6).

Guidetti’s side was trailing after the first set, but in another two they managed to make comeback and to take over the lead!

In the fourth set Yellow Angels performed very well, while in the decisive moments Fenerbahçe couldn’t find any solutions for VakifBank !

The top scorer on home side was Sloetjes with 17, while Rasic added 15! In Fenerbahçe , Kim Yeon Koung ended match with 20 and Uslupehlivan added 17! 

VakifBank are undefeated with 3-0 score, while Fenerbahçe now have 2-1!

well, the turkish volleyball federation should remove their 2 foreign player rule on the turkish championship.. the teams cannot show their full power on court because they have to alter their all star line ups..

Kim performed poorly in this game. Her overt fatigue was evident in 5th set. Most of Vakifbank serves were intentionally directed toward Kim as usual. I couldn’t understand why they did not use Gizem during this game as their libero. I also did not understand why Vakifbank did not utilize Sheila.

In addition, Scorupa’s setting was quite disappointing. I believe Ezgi performed better in setting. She was also excellent in serving. I wonder whether they would consider using Harmotto as their one of the middle blockers. Their block was so much inferior to that of Vakifbank. It is hard to believe that Kim was still the best scorer in this game. Polen did a good job in this game.
