Food nutritioning is one of the main subjects of our generation, due to the tendency of overweight and multiple diseases. It’s also a fundamental element for achieving maximum sports performance. Therefore it is the subject of today’s article.

Healthy sports nutrition

In our case we can consider volleyball not has a sport that demands particular access  of energy from our deposit of substances like marathon and soccer on one side or pure power lifting and 100m sprint on the other side. Volleyball demands just healthy nutrition.

That’s why here we’ll discuss food nutritioning not as a way of losing weight, not as a way to have long deposit of Glycogen, not as a way to have immediately access of Glucose and not even as a simply keeping in shape.  It’s a way of living, feeding our bodies the best nutrients available, thinking of it as of a machine, which needs the purest fuel to move the fastest.

During the years as an athlete, I’m sure as many of us, I have tried and heard of many different nutrition methods or diets, if you wish, known as “low carb”, “low fat”, “protein rich” and etc. They have been all proven to be too radical, causing most of the times good instant results, but in long prospective harming the organism more than helping it.

The truth hides as always in between, and more particular in wisely balancing all the macro elements – proteins, carbohydrates and fat – in each of our meals. This method, known as “The Zone”, is frequently refuted, because is too complicated to follow. In fact it’s not at all. Take it from someone who is doing it for more than four years and feels great.

In the very beginning it’s important to understand well the effect food causes to our organisms, how it can be the reason for most of our diseases, but is proven to be also the cure!

In order to be more precise, I will quote the inventor of “The Zone”, the American Dr. Barry Sears:

Cellular inflammation: The Problem

Cellular inflammation is what makes us gain weight, accelerate the development of chronic disease, and decrease our physical performance. Although this type of inflammation is below the perception of pain, you can measure it and more than 80% of all people have high levels of it. If the levels of cellular inflammation remain elevated, it can become a silent killer.

There is no drug that can reverse cellular inflammation. It is caused by the diet and can only be effectively reversed by the anti-inflammatory nutritioning. If you want to retake control of life, your first step must be the reduction of cellular inflammation.
