Wilfredo Leon, one of the world’s top volleyball players, has officially joined Bogdanka LUK Lublin, marking one of the most significant transfers in PlusLiga history. The transfer was confirmed on July 1, 2024, amid much anticipation and speculation.
Bogdanka LUK Lublin achieved their best result last season, finishing fifth and participating in the Polish Cup final tournament. The addition of Leon is expected to elevate the team further.
Leon chose Lublin over other interested clubs, and he cited the club’s ambition and his family’s influence as key factors in his decision.
“The club is very ambitious and wants to reach a higher level. I thought, ‘Why not?’ That’s why I’m here today,” Leon said in an interview with Polsat Sport.
The 31-year-old player was officially introduced as a new member of Bogdanka LUK Lublin in a ceremony attended by city and regional officials, as well as sponsors who helped secure the transfer.
