Personal Bolívar and PGE Skra Bełchatów became the sixth and seventh contestants in the World Club Championship, on December 11-17.
The Argentinian champions Bolívar earned the right to compete in the tournament as the champions of the best-ranked country in the FIVB’s Men’s national teams ranking list, not counting those countries whose representatives already qualified. Recall that Italian title holders Cucine Lube Civitanova secured their berth in the Club World Champs by the same criteria.
At the same time, the FIVB awarded one of two wild cards to the Polish side Skra, as „WP SportoweFakty“ revealed, who finished the 2016/2017 PlusLiga as runners-up.
These are the names of all 2017 FIVB Men’s Club World Championship participants that booked their tickets to Poland so far:
2016/17 host country league champions – ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle (POL)
2016 Asian champions – Sarmayeh Bank (IRN)
2017 CEV European champions – Zenit Kazan (RUS)
2017 South American champions – Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei (BRA)
Qualified by the FIVB rankings – Cucine Lube Civitanova (ITA)
Qualified by the FIVB rankings – Personal Bolívar (ARG)
Wild card – PGE Skra Bełchatów (POL)
