The Brazil National Team setter, Cachopa, had a major misfortune before the official start of the club season.

He suffered a ligament rupture in the last preparatory match for 2022-23 for his club, Vero Volley Monza. After helping the ‘Seleção’ win bronze at the World Champs 2022, the 26-year-old player suffered an injury to his left knee in his first game for the Italian side, as he crashed into the net post while trying to save a ball with his foot. The scans showed a tear in the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) that’ll take Cachopa off the court until January. Luckily, there’s no need for surgery. In the match in question, Vero Volley Monza beat Valsa Group Modena, where another setter of the Brazil National Team from the last World Championship, Bruno Rezende ‘Bruninho’ plays, 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-20, 25-20).

Following Cachopa’s injury, Monza set off their activities in finding a new setter, practically on the eve of the new season in SuperLega. They contacted Micah Christenson, but the American said he wanted to stay in Russia’s Zenit-Kazan.
