Sada Cruzeiro confirmed that middle blocker Cledenilson Souza sustained an Achilles tendon rupture in his right foot during Thursday’s match against Suzano. Initial imaging tests verified the injury, which occurred late in the second set with Sada Cruzeiro leading 21-19. Cledenilson, who had been playing a pivotal role with six points and a 71% attack efficiency, was forced to leave the court.
The club’s medical team has started Souza’s treatment, with surgery planned in the coming days at Hospital Orizonti, to be performed by Drs. Sérgio Campolina and Fred Zatti.
