Zenit Kazan announced returning an opposite hitter Denis Zemchenok to the club after two seasons. Thus, the present Superliga runners-up filled this position for the 2019/20 season knowing that it already signed Bulgarian superstar Tsvetan Sokolov.

In his last season with Zenit Kazan (2016/17), Zemchenok made 39 appearances and helped the team win the CEV Champions League, the championship of Russia, as well as the Cup and the Super Cup of the country. Last season, a 31-year-old Zemchenok was a captain of Belogorie Belgorod, becoming the team’s top scorer and CEV Challenge Cup winner. Zemchenok is currently engaged by Russia national team in the FIVB Nations League.

In addition, Zenit Kazan hired another Belogorie player – Valentin Golubev. A 27-year-old libero was the CEV Champions League winner with Lokomotiv Novosibirsk in 2013 and CEV EuroVolley gold medalist with Russia national team in 2017.
