Denso, who renew with Jack, win inaugural edition of international tournament in Chinese Taipei

Japanese top division team Denso Airybees has been crowned champions of the 2019 Taichung Bank Women’s International Volleyball Invitation, held in Chinese Taipei.

 

The team that was fifth-placed in the Japanese top division last season, Denso Airybees, won an inaugural edition of the Taichung Bank International Invitation. The Airybees finished the round-robin tournament with an unbeaten record (4-0) and by not dropping a single set (12-0), earning a maximum of 12 points.

In the last round, the club based in Nishio city swept the home side of Top Speed by a 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-20). The international from Trinidad and Tobago, Sinead Jack, wore the jersey of Denso in the tournament, which means that she will stay in the club for one more season.

The Taichung Bank International Invitation tournament had attracted five teams, including Denso Airybees (Japan), PetroGazz Angels (the Philippines - Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Season 3 champions), Thailand National Team (mostly composed of U23 squad) and two home sides - Top Speed and CMFC.

Best Outside Spiker 2- Yuki Hyodo (Denso Airybees)

Best Opposite Spiker – Thanacha Sooksod (Thailand)

Best Middle Blocker 1 – Cing-Lo Mei (CMFC)

Best Middle Blocker 2 – Asuka Nomura (Denso Airybees)

Best Libero – Tapaphaipun Chaisri (Thailand)

Best Setter – Airi Tahara (Denso Airybees)

MVP – Miami Nakamoto (Denso Airybees)

Many Strength and Conditioning Coaches/Scoutman are trying to get into coaching. Due to their lack of experience and knowledge, at first, they take a major pay cut in comparison to actual volleyball coaches. Currently, coaching jobs are paying very little, even in the top leagues, and some of the experienced coaches are not taking jobs for 25.000-40.000 EUR, knowing that demands are just as high as before when they were making double of this salary. Unfortunately, club leaderships see coaches as a disposable matter and therefore keep dropping salaries because there are candidates that will take these jobs. I am not here to judge, just to describe some of the dynamics around this profession. Reply

Interesting trend, that some coaches who specialised on physical training, some who never played volleyball on top level, became pretty successful volleyball coaches. It can be observed in some menś and women teams. It reflects a situation that volleyball has become a very physical sport. Even the world champion country, which in past had taught others, needs coaches from abroad who come into this category. Reply
