Legendary American female volleyball player Logan Tom ended her playing career in Israel where she will make the coaching debut.

Tom will start a new career in Israel. The legendary American player is the new head coach of the Israel Women’s National Team. The 39-year-old former outside hitter has been playing in Israel since 2017, with Maccabi XT Haifa and Hapoel Kfar Saba in whose jersey she retired.

As a player with a strong personality and a lot of technique, Tom became known for being a true volleyball globetrotter. She competed in 18 different clubs in 12 countries of which some are quite exotic in volleyball terms, such as Indonesia and New Zealand. On the other hand, she performed in many famous clubs: Itambé Minas and Sesc RJ Flamengo (former Rexona) in Brazil, Igor Gorgonzola Novara (Italy), Dinamo Moscow (Russia), Fenerbahçe Opet (Turkey)…

With the US National Team, Tom won 3 editions of the FIVB World Grand Prix, 2 NORCECA Championships, and one Pan American Cup. Individually, she was awarded, among other recognitions, a one-time Best Scorer of the Olympics (2008), and a one-time MVP and a 2-time Best Scorer of the FIVB World Grand Prix.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first coaching attempt of Tom, as she started her career in this role at Stanford University in 2014, but the experience was short-lived and she returned to the court. Tom’s debut at the helm of Israel NT will be in the qualifier for the 2021 CEV European Championship in which her team will face France, Denmark, and Hungary in Pool E.

TUR W: Thai star Ajcharaporn continues career in Turkey

Re: @Nobody Cares She's 26 and her dream to come play in Europe stopped in a 12-placed team??? Ajcharaporn could have had many other better choices, even to play in a European Cup in a Romanian team. Her agency is so incompetent! Now she'll play against relegation :( So sad!
