The career of a veteran setter from Belgium, Frank Depestele, may be nearing its end.

A 40-year-old Frank Depestele suffered a quite bizarre injury while competing for an Argentinean side Personal Bolívar in the 2018 South American Club Championship. Due to the extent of his injury, there is no dilemma – he will miss the rest of the season. But, his career may be on the line as well, as Het Nieuwsblad reported.

Knowing his age and a recovery time for this kind of injury, it is a big question if Depestele will continue to play professionally.

Bolívar are truly unlucky when it comes to injuries to their players this season. Firstly, Agustín Ramonda ruptured his ligaments in August. Then, Demián González ruptured his Achilles tendon. And finally, a couple of months before Depestele, Germán Galdón sustained an injury. A misfortune happened even to a player who left Bolívar in the mid-season – the Serbian Miloš Nikić, who moved to Ziraat Bankası of Turkey, will be sidelined until the end of the season.

The top-seed in the Argentinean championship Bolívar hope this negative streak will come to its end since they are about to start competing in the playoffs.
