Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, currently struggling with a spate of injuries, suffered a 1-3 defeat to Projekt Warszawa on Saturday. Adding to their challenges, team captain Aleksander Śliwka missed the match due to a significant finger injury sustained in the last Champions League game.
Śliwka was injured in the first set of the match against Knack Roeselare, which ZAKSA eventually won 3-2. Although he managed to finish the set, he was unable to continue for the rest of the match. Upon his return to Poland, medical examinations revealed a fracture in the second finger of his left hand, necessitating surgery, as announced by the club.
The detailed examinations confirmed the severity of Śliwka’s injury, indicating a significant recovery period ahead. The club’s statement regarding the health of the player noted a few weeks of rest and absence from play.
