Shanghai will have the home-court advantage all the way in the playoffs and the lowest ranked team as a rival in the playoffs in the China volleyball league as they beat Jiangsu on the road by a 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-14) in the penultimate round of the Top 8 (Second Stage), which is the penultimate round of the regular season overall. The Argentinean outside hitter Facundo Conte topped Shanghai with 25 points, while Zhang Yichen added 5 kill blocks. Liu Xiangdong scored 18 points for Jiangsu. Li Shaojian contributed with 4 kill blocks.
Shanghai now have a 12-1 and 35 points at No.1, which is two wins and two points more compared to the second-placed Beijing. As for Beijing, they have fallen for the third consecutive time. They lost at home to the fourth-placed Bayi (7-6; 18 points) by a 3-2 but did not jeopardize No.2. Tang Chuanhang delivered 29 points for the winning side, while Li Yuanbo made nine kill blocks! Jiang Chuan scored 29 points as well, but for Beijing.
Sichuan remained at No.3 as they defeated Shandong in straight sets. Their match against Bayi in the last round will decide on third-seed and fourth-seed for the playoffs.
