After losing a contract in France, which he signed in the off-season, due to foot injury, Renan was without a club until now. A 30-year-old opposite hitter was hired by a club in his home country, Vôlei UM Itapetininga, and will play the 2020/21 Superliga Banco do Brasil.

Best Opposite Hitter of the Pan American Games and Pan-American Cup – both in 2013 – played the last season in Vôlei Renata and was one of the highlights of the team.
