BRA W: Fabiana back on big scene after maternity leave – signs for Osasco

by WoV

This time last year, the big name of the Brazilian women’s volleyball, Fabiana Claudino, was on the way to Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde but the pregnancy got into the way of this transfer. A year later, the deal is closed.

Two-time Olympic champion Fabiana will wear the Osasco jersey in the 2021/22 season. The powerful middle blocker, now veteran, arrived with accumulated energy to return to the court after a year during which she was carrying the pregnancy and gave birth to her first child (in April).

Thus, the fans of the club from the São Paulo state will finally have the chance to watch the captain of the two golden Olympic generations of the Brazil National Team (Beijing 2008 and London 2012) in their club. Exactly a year ago, the 36-year-old player was to sign for Osasco but the pregnancy got into the way of this transfer.

The last club for which the 2012 Olympic Games Best Blocker competed prior to maternity leave was Japan’s Hisamitsu Springs.
