BRA M: Cruzeiro can play even without stars, lifeless Sesi shocked again

Cruzeiro is so strong that their coach Marcelo Mendez can afford himselsf to rest important players in some games of Superliga, like he did against Copel Telecom Maringá Vôlei, at home court 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-21).

In the absence of „The Magician“ William Arjona, Fernando Kreling did a great job in setting and was awarded with the title of MVP. Wallace Souza also remained on the bench.

Cuban Yoandy Leal scored 16 points in Cruzeiro while Canadian Frederic Winters added 11. Japanese Tatsuya Fukuzawa topped Maringá’s scorers with 13 points.

Vice-champions Sesi-SP were stunned at their „Vila Leopoldina“ by Minas Tênis Clube 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-22). Cuban bomber Yadrian Escobar took MVP award as he demolished Sesi’s defense with 21 points and 76% of successful attack!

Sesi’s score sheet just couldn’t look poorer as they didn’t have a player with double digits. Sesi’s star Murilo Endres had a disappointing six points. This was second upset in a row in Superliga for this team.

Funvic Taubaté’s dream team scored second win in a row after losing at opening. They played without Riad Ribeiro again (recovering from injury) versus Voleisul Paquetá Esportes, but this time even without Felipe Fonteles.

Still, there are plenty other players to make the difference in Taubaté. For instance, Ricardo Lucarelli who had 15 points. Franco Paese scored 19 in Voleisul.
