In a statement for „Globo Esporte“, Ricardo Trade, Executive Director of the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation, said that Bernardinho is the only option considered to take command of Brazilian Men’s Volleyball National Team. Trade did not set a deadline to the coach to give his answer on the proposal, but believes that he will do it in the next 15 days.
“He’s taking this into consideration. The obstacle, I think, might be the family and his dual role (national team and Rexona). Coaching two teams is hard, the family is suffering. I talked to him a week before the trip (to the Philippines for the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Club World Championship). I gave him peace before the trip so that he can take care of his team in the tournament. I told him to think,” explained Brazilian Volleyball Confederation Executive.
Thus, after extending with Women’s NT head coach José Guimarães ‘Zé Roberto’, Brazilian Volleyball Confederation is close to do the same with Men’s NT head, too, although he received the offer from Japanese Federation.
After winning the Olympic title in Rio de Janeiro, Men’s NT of Brazil will again gather in May, 2017, to prepare for the FIVB World League. The competition is scheduled to begin in June.
