Brazil won the Pan Am Cup 2012 U23 for men, playing against Argentina in the final game. Worldofvolley brings you the impressions from the game.

I am very glad, but I still don’t know why Argentina’s captain (Gonzalo Quiroga) didn’t play”, said Brazil’s captain Thiago Veloso. “We have finished with a gold medal, but not everything has been donde yet for us, because we must be focused no won the South American World Championship Qualification tournament”.

Quiroga said that he was not able to perform, because a muscular injury he suffered since the training camp and tour held by Argentina against Canada’s college teams  previous to the U23 Cup.

Unfortunatelly I couldn’t make it, but at the same time collectively this tournament helped us a lot to see what we have to improve for continental championship and now the next days will help us for a full recovery of injuries in the team”, he indicated.

Argentina, only defeated by the same rival twice, finished on the podium. “Maybe we could do more in the final. Generally  we came from the bottom to the top, and increased our level during the tournament. This was a good quality tournament”, said coach Fabian Muraco.

Facing Argentina always generate high expectation, I am happy for tonight’s victory, but now we have to prepare for the South American Championship”, said Brazilian coach Leonardo Carvalho. “I want to thank to the people of Langley for hosting a great tournament that is also a great opportunity for young players”.
