Zenit Kazan
Zenit Kazan had an easy game against the German side, beating them in straight sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-13.
It was an opportunity for head coach Vladimir Alekno to give the other players a chance to play in this game and this proves how Zenit is a strong team.
Sergey Surmachevskiy was the best scorer in Zenit with 12 points, proving that Alekno can count on him this season, while Mikhailov played in the first two sets (8 points), Matt Anderson in the first two as well (5 points) and Earvin Ngapeth in the third set (7 points).
Tours have made a big win at the start of the group stage. They defeated Arkasspor on the road, thanks to a great display of Hermans Egleskalns, who ended the game with 20 points.
Zaksa had an easy game as well. They downed the Czech rival Karlovarsko in three sets 25-16, 25-16, 25-17. Sam Deroo and Lukasz Kaczmarek were the top scorers with 16 points each. On the other side, Marek Zmrhal was the only player with a double-digit display – 10.
