Kuzbass Kemerovo surpassed Polish side Indykpol AZS Olsztyn in the rematch of the 8th Finals derby of the CEV Cup by a 3-1 (26-28, 25-19, 25-14, 25-19), returning home with a quarterfinal ticket in their pocket. The Greek side Olympiacos Piraeus qualified for the Quarterfinals by overcoming the Turkish İstanbul BBSK in the rematch of the 8th Finals by a 3-1 (22-25, 26-24, 25- 22, 25-19). After winning the 1st leg by the same result, the „red and white“ team needed two sets in the match at home to seal the ticket for the next round of the tournament. It was not a piece of cake for Olympiacos as they lost the opening set. But it was all for what İstanbul BBSK had their strength for. Bulgarian Todor Aleksiev notched 24 points for the winning side while Metin Toy scored 20 points for İstanbul BBSK.
Olympiacos’ next opponent will be Neftohimic 2010 Burgas from Bulgaria who gave over the first set to the Norwegian Viking TIF Bergen in the 2nd leg of the 8th Finals before clinching the next three – partially 22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-16. Since Neftohimic beat the rivals in four sets in the first match as well, they scheduled the meeting with Olympiacos in the next round. Georgi Petrov scored 21 points for Neftochimic, two points more than Viking opposite Vetle Hylland.
