Dresdner started the 8th finals of the 3rd tier of the European club competition with a confident performance. In front of 2,400 spectators at home in the Margon Arena, the German team prevailed over Romanian representatives Ştiinţa by a 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-19). Thus, Dresdner took a good starting position for advancing to the quarterfinals with the rematch taking place in 2 weeks. Serbian Milica Kubura top-scored for the winning side with 22 points, including 5 aces.
Two more teams swept their rivals in the first leg, THY Istanbul and Béziers VB.
