Romanian powerhouse CS Volei Alba Blaj stormed into the CEV Cup quarterfinals with a commanding 3-0 victory over Spain’s Avarca de Menorca. Playing on home turf, the vice-champions of Romania wrapped up the second leg of the playoff in just 71 minutes, with set scores of 25-21, 25-16, and 25-22.
This win mirrored their first-leg performance, also a 3-0 triumph, earning them a flawless qualification to the next stage. Yelyzaveta Samadova-Ruban shone with 15 points, while Monika Krasteva added 13 to the tally. Avarca’s standout player, Marcella Amaral Antunnes, contributed 14 points but couldn’t turn the tide for the Spanish side.
Volei Alba Blaj’s journey in this season’s CEV Cup included victories against Rabotnicki Skopje and VK Prostejov. Now, they set their sights on the semifinals, with a quarterfinal matchup against a Champions League contender looming.
Having advanced to the finals in both 2019 and 2023, the Blaj team is determined to strengthen its reputation and forge closer ties with Europe’s volleyball elite.
