ISR M: Top 4 seeds advance to playoff semis as they all make sweep in their respective quarterfinal series

Titleholders Maccabi Tel Aviv secured their berth in the 2017/18 Israeli men’s volleyball championship IVA League playoff semifinals.

No.3 Maccabi Tel Aviv made a sweep of No.6 Hapoel Menashe Hadera Emek Hefer in the 2017/18 IVA League playoff quarterfinals (2-0) to progress to the semis. Dmitri Zemlianukhin topped Maccabi Tel Aviv in Game 2 (3-0) with 11 points (71% attack, 10/14, 2 errors, blocked once), while Iliya Goldrin served 4 aces (73% reception, 15 digs, 53% excellent). The Brazilian Breno Silva scored 12 points for the losing side.

Thanks to 91% reception (11 digs, 64% excellent) from Ukrainian Stanislav Nviadomski and 10 points from Lior Lok in Game 2 (3-0), the top-seed Hapoel Mate Asher Akko also made a sweep of their rivals, No.8 K.K. Tel Aviv, in the series.

The second-seed Hapoel Yoav Khar Saba followed the footsteps of Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Mate Asher Akko. Their “victim” were No.7 ASA Ben Gurion Beer Sheva. Slava Bachkala topped the winning side in Game 2 with 11 points (5 kill blocks). The Pole Sebastian Devash contributed to the win of his team with 73% attack (8/11, 1 error, blocked once).

No.4 Maccabi Mosinzon Hod Hasharon found their place in the semifinals by winning the series against No.5 V.C. Ilaboon by a 2-0 as well.
