Pool 11 hosts Thailand have already won more VNL matches in 2019 (3) than in 2018 (2) but will remain on that figure (3-6 record) after three weeks of the tournament knowing that they lost to Turkey by a 3-0. As for the winning side, they made a five-game winning streak to reach an 8-1 record. The last time Turkey managed to make such a streak was seven years ago, in the FIVB World Grand Prix.

Turkey’s rising star Ebrar Karakurt tallied 20 points. The most effective player in Thailand’s squad, that was supported by 6,500 fans at the Indoor Stadium Huamark (packed stands), was Pleumjit Thinkaow with 7 points of which she made only 3 in the attack (3/11).
