VNL: Japan pushes France to limits, Germany and Argentina victorious

by WoV

The France National Team ended the second week of the 2021 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League in a victorious manner.

Defeating Japan after a huge battle in which they trailed twice in sets, France finished the second week of the 2021 Men’s VNL in Rimini (Italy) with a 5-1 record: 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-21, 15-11). Jean Patry led ‘Les Bleus’ with 19 points, while Japan’s Yuki Ishikawa tallied match-high 25 points.

“We exploited our reserves because we were already very tired before the match. In addition, Japan played well, but we hung on and it was successful for us. When we trailed, we said to ourselves that we had to stop being frustrated after each ball because they were defending a lot and slowing us down. We said to ourselves that we had to continue playing our game trying to revive and it worked well. Our record after six games is satisfactory given that we didn’t have a big preparation for the VNL,” said Daryl Bultor, the middle blocker of France.
