The USA is back to the VNL final after three years following a sweep of Poland in the semi-finals of this year’s edition of the event. The first two sets of the match in Bologna, Italy, were a close fight, but the Poles plunged into mistakes in the third set and got ashamed by the rivals in that period.

The last time the Polish and US teams played against each other in the semi-final of an important tournament was also in Italy. Unlike this match, that one, held in Turin, was a spectacle in which Poland defeated the Americans 3-2 after an epic clash to advance to the final of the FIVB World Championship. Now the stakes were not that high, but the USA inflicted a very unpleasant loss to the world champions. Torey DeFalco ruined his rival’s reception with serves, pouring in 6 aces, and a match-high 13 points.

2022 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League – semi-finals:

Poland – USA 0-3 (22-25, 23-25, 13-25)

Italy – France, 9 p.m. local time
