Türkiye made history reaching the quarterfinals of the Men’s Volleyball World Championship for the first time ever.
After dropping a nail-biting first set 27-29, the Turks roared back to take the next three (25-23, 25-19, 25-19) and seal a 3-1 victory over the Netherlands.
Adis Lagumdzija led the charge with 28 points, while outside hitter Efe Mandıracı powered in three aces in the fourth set and finished with 15 points. Brother Mirza Lagumdzija added 13, and middle blocker Bedirhan Bülbül chipped in 12 with a mix of blocks and aces.
For the Dutch, Michiel Ahyi scored 21 points and Tom Koops added 14, but it wasn’t enough to stop Türkiye’s momentum.
Türkiye will face either Poland or Canada in their first-ever World Championship quarterfinal on Wednesday.
