Earvin Ngapeth, Antonin Rouzier and now Julien Lyneel. All of them have spoken publicly about the doping scandal of Alexander Markin and all of them are convinced that the whole Russian team must be punished for participating at the official tournament with a player who used illegal substances.
“It’s a scandal. I cannot understand. Markin had failed on a drug test and yet he played in the Finals of the European Olympic Qualifier. He scored 17 points in that match and largely contributed to the win of Russia. So keeping the final score of that match would be a scandal. That is a situation we cannot accept. My team played 5 games without a day off. But, we played them clean, while it was not the case with Russia. Still, until the FIVB does not make the final decision, we will continue preparing for the World Olympic Qualifier,” said Lyneel.
