As if the fact they barely won Game 1 of the 2017/18 Ligue A playoff quarterfinals against No.6 Montpellier (3-2) was not enough to warn the third-seed Paris to be more careful in Game 2. This time, No.6 Montpellier managed to stun the team from the French capital by a 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 17-25, 25-16) and tie the series at 1-1.

Jean Patry and Daryl Bultor shared the best scorer title in Montpellier with 15 points apiece, with Bultor making 3 aces, 3 kill blocks, and 82% attack (9/11, 1 error). The Brazilian Thiago Sens added 4 kill blocks. In Paris, the Hungarian Roland Gergye scored 16 points.

A decisive Game 3 is scheduled for April 17.

So far, only the top-seed Tours Volley-Ball secured a berth in the semifinals as they made a sweep of No.8 Arago de Sète by a 2-0 in the series.
