Igor Gorgonzola Novara managed to extend their winning streak to 11 games (counting all competitions) and, once again, shorten the gap in the 2020/21 Italian Women’s Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile regular season standings in relation to leaders Imoco Volley Conegliano.
Stefano Lavarini’s team beat Bosca S.Bernardo Cuneo in a derby of Round 18 by a 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 30-28, 25-14), and now lags 5 points behind Imoco (48 vs 43). The Pole Malwina Smarzek top-scored Novara with 19 points. Sara Bonifacio set up 5 blocks.
The series of victories of Saugella Monza is also impressive. They bounced back from 1-2 against Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri to achieve the 10th success in a row in all competitions and remain third placed. German Hanna Orthmann highlighted Monza with 24 points. Alessia Orro made 4 blocks, while the Dutch Floortje Meijners had 80 % reception (15 digs, 1 error, 67 % perfect).
Mostly thanks to Sylvia Nwakalor (26 points, including 5 blocks), Il Bisonte Firenze downed Zanetti Bergamo and ended their own losing streak of 4 games.
