Cucine Lube Civitanova has named libero Fabio Balaso as their new captain. This will be Balaso’s seventh season with the team, stepping into the role previously held by Luciano De Cecco, who transferred to Modena. Coach Giampaolo Medei chose Balaso to bridge the gap between the old and new eras of Lube. Known for his leadership on the court and impressive track record with both the club and the Italian national team, Balaso earned the nickname “machine” for his consistent performance and dedication.
Balaso expressed his excitement, stating, “Being named captain is a special honor. Seven years ago, I never imagined reaching this point. Learning of the decision from my teammates and then officially from Coach Medei was emotional. It’s a big responsibility, and I’m committed to meeting the challenge with heart, strength, and determination. I want to prove my worth on and off the court. Please continue to support us, and we’ll give our all.”
