Marisa Field announced her retirement recently from the National Team program and is looking forward to starting a new chapter in her life.
Field, who spent 11 seasons including more than 120 matches with Team Canada, is one of only a handful of women to represent Canada at the Worlds more than once (Japan in 2010 and Italy in 2014). The middle blocker also appeared in two Olympic qualification tournaments, three Women’s Grand Prix tournaments, five Pan Am Cups, four NORCECA Championships and the FISU Games in 2009; receiving several awards and accolades along the way.
She is currently in Greece playing for AO Thiras for the 2018/19 season. Her professional career is not quite over yet! Field plans to play for another year or two before “hanging up the knee pads and closing the volleyball career chapter of my life.”
We are still waiting for the final roster of Canada for the FIVB World Championship in Japan.
