The first FIVB Control Committee meeting was held with the Local Organising Committee on Thursday in the Golden Room of the San Diego Suites Hotel in Uberlandia ahead of the start of the FIVB Volleyball Men's U23 World Championship Open which starts on Sunday.

FIVB Control Committee President, Mr. Rafael Lloreda, led the meeting in which every LOC area gave reports on the current situation, in order to adjust all the details for a smooth competition.
Lloreda, who is also President of the South American Volleyball Confederation (CSV), encouraged the organisers to give their best for a remarkable tournament and assured that the FIVB Control Committee will work right next to them to accomplish that goal.
The FIVB Control Committee members also visited the Tancredo Neves Municipal Gymnasium for the first time, which will host all 38 matches to be played throughout this first ever edition for a brand new age-group category.
For the first time in FIVB competitions, the new 21-point rule will be tested in the U23 World Championships, taking advantage of the fact that it’s an Open tournament. For that reasons, teams have already began adjusting details for that: Argentina, Iran, Russia and Australia played some friendly matches in Argentina under this new point system.
