The fourth set was crucial, because Alba led by 2-1 and had the opportunity to gain 3-1 lead and take the match to the Golden Set.
Dominika Sobolska served perfectly for 3-0 lead in the 4th set. After the effective play of Joanna Staniucha-Szczurek, the Poles had 8-2 at the first technical time-out.
Alba won three consecutive points (8-5) but Dąbrowa Górnicza soon gained 5-point lead (11-6).
Gina Mancuso scored for the second technical time-out – 16-6. The visiting setter Natalią Piekarczyk did an excellent job in distribution of the balls (19-10).
Romanians reduced their loss to only two points (21-19). Katarzyna Konieczna ended Alba’s run (22-19). At the score of 24-20, Tamara Kaliszuk provided the promotion to the 1/4 finals to Dąbrowa Górnicza!
Adina Salaoru from the losing team was the most efficient with 21 pts. On the other side, Katarzyna Konieczna collected the same number of points.
Russian Dinamo Krasnodar noted another straight-set victory over HPK Hämeenlinna.
Tatyana Kosheleva was brilliant in the return match in Finland with 18 points. Her teammate Yulia Podskalnaya added 11.
In Hämeenlinna, Alexandra Erwin was the only player with double digits – 10 points.
